Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapists evaluate the patient’s ability to perform activities of daily living, determine hindrances to independence and develop programs that help restore function. The evaluation includes identifying hindrances such as muscle strength, decreased coordination, or inability to bend or reach without losing balance. They provide a program to address these issues and help patients adapt to the environment as necessary.

Patients who have had a stroke or cardiac episode, respiratory disease spinal cord injury, orthopedic surgery or arthritis can all benefit from occupational therapy services. The physician can make the determination of the patient will benefit from occupational therapy.
